FAQ

Questions & Answers

Everything you need to know. Honest, direct, and without any fancy hotel fluff.

🕒 Check-in & Check-out: How flexible are you?
  • Check-in: Your room is ready for you from 3:00 PM on the day of arrival.
  • Check-out: Normally, we kindly ask you to check out of your room by 10:00 AM on your day of departure. But since we know no one likes to rush on holiday, we give you a little grace period: everything is totally relaxed until 10:30 AM.
  • Late Check-out (with room): Want to sleep in a bit longer on your day of departure or enjoy a relaxing shower in your room after a morning tour? Depending on availability, you can keep your room and parking spot until 2:00 PM for an extra fee of €50.00. Just quickly drop by the lake bar the day before to ask.
  • Late Check-out (without room · full extra day): The room is already booked for the next guests, but you still want to make the most of your day? No problem. You check out as usual in the morning, leave your luggage with us, and use our parking space and hotel facilities until 4:00 PM for €30.00. This way, you get the absolute most out of your last day of vacation by the lake.
🔑 What should I do if I arrive early or get in late?

Since you check in super easily and digitally at the terminal, you're extremely flexible. If you arrive well before 3:00 PM, just check in briefly at the terminal – we'll let you know as soon as your room is ready. If you arrive late, that's no drama either: the terminal never sleeps. If anything ever gets stuck, there's an info doorbell at the door – we won't leave you out in the cold.

🍽️ Do you serve dinner at the hotel or do you have a "Dine Around" option?

We deliberately don't have a classic, stuffy hotel restaurant with boring, generic half-board food. We love life way too much for that! Our culinary concept is casual, uncomplicated, and flexible:

  • Our Aperitivo Bar (for hunger in between): After hitting the mountains or the lake, you'll meet up at our lake bar. In a relaxed aperitivo atmosphere, we serve you cool drinks, good wine, and a fine selection of really delicious dishes. Damn good and perfect to satisfy your hunger or kick off the evening nicely.
  • The local "Dine Around" (for the big menu): Since Lakeside Hotel SEEHOF has such a brilliant location, the pedestrian zone with all its top-notch restaurants, steakhouses, cozy pubs, and pizzerias is just 100 meters away. Where to get the best schnitzel, the best pasta, or the best burger in town? We'll gladly tell you live at the bar anytime. That way, you stay completely flexible every single day!
🍽️ When and where can I eat and drink at Lakeside Hotel SEEHOF?

Enjoying food with us is totally relaxed. Here are your meal times throughout the day:

  • Extended lake breakfast (7:30 AM to 10:00 AM): The perfect start to your day in the mountains or by the lake. Our high-quality continental breakfast is ready and waiting for you – complete with fresh waffles, authentic Austrian apple strudel, eggs, and really good coffee.
  • Aperitivo & Lake Bar (4:00 PM to 10:00 PM): Your meeting point after the mountains or before and after dinner. In a casual aperitivo atmosphere, we serve cool drinks, good wine, and a fine selection of really tasty dishes here. The perfect spot to kick off the evening or wind down with a nightcap.
🚗 What's the easiest way to get there and where can I park?
  • By public transport (our recommendation): Zell am See station is so brilliantly located that you can easily walk to the hotel from the platform in just a few minutes. And the best part: public transport throughout the entire state of Salzburg is completely free for you all year round! For getting around right in town, just take bus line 70; for trips around the region, use all other regional buses and trains. Traveling by train is therefore the most relaxed, affordable, and eco-friendly option in any season.
  • ☀️ The summer bonus (cable cars & more): If you're visiting us in summer, the Zell am See – Kaprun Summer Card is also included for you! This gets you tons of discounts and, in some cases, completely free rides on the cable cars and mountain lifts in the region.
  • By car & your route: Zell am See is super easy to reach. Coming from the north/Germany, the best toll-free route is via the small German corner (Lofer) and Saalfelden via the B311. If you're coming via the Tauern Autobahn (A10), take exit 47 Bischofshofen/Pongau and drive via Bischofshofen and St. Johann straight onto the B311 to Zell am See.
  • Your direct-booker parking perk: Here's your big advantage when booking directly through our website: With a direct booking, parking is completely free of charge for your entire stay, included in the room rate (subject to availability right at the hotel).
  • When booking via booking platforms: If you book through a travel agency or platforms like Booking.com or Expedia, the conditions listed there will apply. In this case, we charge €15.00 per day for parking (subject to availability right at the hotel or in the nearby underground garage).
🔌 Can I charge my electric car here?

Yes, absolutely! We have our own EV charging station ready for you right at the hotel. Charging your vehicle is straightforward for a corresponding fee. That way, you'll always start your morning in the mountains with a full battery!

💨 Do you have air conditioning or is the cool mountain air enough?

We don't have air conditioning. Because there is no plan(et) B. Instead of artificial air, we rely on a brilliant natural feature that delivers like clockwork: every evening at exactly 7:30 PM, the legendary, chilly Schmittenwind rolls straight down from the mountain. Combined with the fresh breeze from Lake Zell, it provides the perfect cooling down. Just open the window, let the ice-cold mountain air in, and take a deep breath. There's simply no better way to sleep.

🎿 Can you book ski school, bike guides, or rental gear for me?

It's best to do that yourself – because nobody knows what equipment you need better than you do. Thanks to our prime location, you're just a 400-meter walk from the ski lift (CityXpress) and right in the middle of the action. Of course, we're always happy to give you the best tips at the Seebar on where to get the top gear nearby. By the way, you can safely store your skis and bikes in our in-house ski room.

🐾 Can I bring my dog to the hotel?

Yes, your furry friend is welcome to vacation with us (for an extra charge and upon request). To keep things relaxed for everyone under our roof, the usual fair dog rules apply: paws don't belong in the beds or the relaxation area (sauna). And, of course, we ask that you be considerate of others in our hotel garden.

🥞 Can I add breakfast on-site later?

If you didn't book breakfast in advance and think while you're here, "You know what, I'd actually like to add breakfast because it looks so good!" – no problem at all!

You can add our sparkling lakeside breakfast in the morning sun on the fly. Just let us know directly at check-in, the evening before, or in the morning at the Seebar.

🌾 Vegetarian, vegan, halal & dietary requirements: How does breakfast work?

ℹ️ Note for our international guests:
Please note that a traditional European continental breakfast (aside from our breakfast eggs) does not include hot dishes (such as bacon, sausages, or baked beans).

  • Halal & Veggie: Since our continental buffet doesn't include warm meat dishes anyway and we offer a wide selection of cheese, sweet pastries, vegetarian, and plant-based products, it's totally straightforward and ideal for our halal guests as well.
  • Milk alternatives: Popular alternatives like oat and soy milk are available as standard for your coffee.
  • Allergies & dietary requirements: If you have severe allergies or intolerances, please be sure to let us know before you arrive. That way, we can get the right alternatives (like gluten-free bread) ready for you in time.
🚬 Am I allowed to smoke in the hotel?

Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the entire building. You are, of course, welcome to light up outside in the fresh air, in the garden, and on your room's balcony. Ashtrays are provided.

❌ Do I have to pay the full price if I cancel?

Life doesn't always go according to plan. We only accept cancellations in writing. To keep things fair for both sides, our clear cancellation conditions apply (you can see the exact deadlines directly when booking). In the event of an early departure, we have to charge for the entire duration of the stay. A tip from us: Take out travel cancellation insurance right when you book. Then you're on the safe side if your holiday falls through unexpectedly.

🌊 What is the water temperature of Lake Zell?

Lake Zell has absolute drinking-water quality and offers great experiences all year round:

  • Swimming season (mid-May to late September): During this time, the lake invites you to swim and cool off. In high summer (July & August), it reaches a comfortable 21 °C to 24 °C – the perfect refreshment after a mountain hike. In May and September, it's a wonderfully invigorating 14 °C to 20 °C.
  • The winter highlight (mid-January to mid-February): If we're lucky and the winter is properly crisp and cold, the lake freezes over completely during this time. Then you can enjoy a fantastic walk or go ice skating right on the ice – an absolutely unique experience!
